Phthalates and their link to breast cancer

Phthalates are endocrine disruptors and exposure to phthalates has been linked to breast cancer, developmental issues, decreased fertility, obesity and asthma. 

Although some regulations ban phthalates in certain products specifically for young children they are still widely used in many products particularly scented products, companies can list phthalates as just 'fragrance' in the ingredients list making it really difficult to determine if your candle or other fragranced products contain them or not.

Having a BRCA2 gene mutation puts me at very high risk of breast cancer so not having phthalates in my home has been high on my agenda and the reason why I created my own phthalate free scented candles at cosyplace candle co. all our candles do not contain phthalates and we only use 100% soy wax for a long clean burn.
